TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE TENTH FIB INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 09
1) The TENTH FIB INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 09 will take place 13-16 July 2009.
2) The official section will consist of fifteen short films. Short films that meet the following conditions may participate and compete in the selection process:
- Must be filmed in a professional format (35 or 16 mm, HD Cam, Digibeta or Betacam SP), with an exhibition copy in 35-mm format.
- Must have been filmed between 1 April 2008 and 31 March 2009.
- Maximum running time: 30 minutes.
- If not filmed in Spanish or English, it must be subtitled in one of these languages.
3) Jury and Prizes:
An international jury whose members will be chosen based on their accomplishments in the world of cinema, culture and music will award the following prizes:
First Prize (6,000 euros)
Second Prize (3,000 euros)
An Audience Award (1,500 euros) will also be given to the short film that receives the highest voting scores from the attendees of the Official Section viewings.
4) Selection Process:
In order to participate in the selection process, all materials must be sent by post or messenger on or before May 18 (no submissions will be considered with postmarks or despatch notes later than this date) to the following address:

The following materials must be sent:
- A VHS or DVD (zone 2) copy of the short film. If the short film is not in Spanish or English, the VHS or DVD copy must be subtitled in one of these language. These VHS or DVD copies will then form part of the Festival’s archives and will not be returned after the selection process.
- A committee will conduct the selection process. The fifteen short films chosen for the official section of the Festival will be published on 28 May 2009 at www.fiberfib.com. The Festival will also contact the finalists directly.
5) Materials to be provided by the fifteen finalists:
- An exhibition copy in 35-mm format.
- A JPEG photo of the director, 300 pixels per resolution.
- Various JPEG photos (300 pixels per resolution) of different scenes in the short film.
- A Word file with the screenplay in its original language; and if the original language is not Spanish or English, a translated copy must also be provided in either of these languages.
6) Submission, return and insurance of the exhibition copies:
The exhibition copies in 35-mm format must be sent before 1 July 2009 to the following address:

The following information must appear on the outside of the short film’s container: title, author, running time, format, screen, type of sound, and in the event that the short film is subtitled, the language it is subtitled into.
The expenses of shipping these materials to the Festival will be covered by the participants; the expenses of shipping these materials back to the participants will be covered by the Festival. All exhibition copies will be returned before 31 July 2009.
Insurance of the copy until it reaches the Festival’s address will be covered by the participant. Once it arrives to the Festival, and until it is returned, insurance fees will be covered by the Festival.
7) Festival Attendance
The Festival will invite all the directors of the short films selected to a two-night stay during the Tenth FIB International Short Film Festival (13-16 July 2009), coinciding with the viewing of their short film, as well as two invitations, for each director and a guest, to FIB Heineken 09 (16-19 July 2009).
8) Promotional Materials:
The Festival reserves the right to provide extracts of the selected short films (a maximum of ten percent of the total running time, and never more than three minutes) to any media channel it chooses, including the Internet and streaming, as informative and/or promotional materials.
9) Acceptance of Terms and Conditions:
By participating in the Festival, you accept these terms and conditions.
